2001-02 : Review

Fifteen teams go into the season, believing it to be the last in the present format. Hill of Beath eventually proves toostrong for the rest of the league. Kelty Hearts and Oakley join them as Fife representatives into the new East Superleague for Season 2002-03 despite strong challenges from Thornton and Lochore. Thornton who fail to enter the top three after defeat in the final game at Keir's Park, and Lochore sack their manager after being resigned to be among near neighbours, at least for another season.

For the remaining 12 to form the new Fife League, how is the loss of three large and successful teams going to affect the standing of the remaining County league? Will they amalgamate with the Kingdom Caledonian Amateur League to form a leg of a Pyramid system from the amateurs up to the Senior teams, or will the league ossify and die?

Tayport is the team that lasts longest of the Fife teams in the Scottish, losing to eventual winners, Linlithgow, in the Semi Finals. However with the widening of travel for the league in the next season, will they be able to hold onto their predominantly Dundee-based team and continue their good form in the Scottish.

Hill of Beath captures the first silverware of the season, as they lift the PSM Fife Cup after extra time and penalties in front of 400 fans at Crosshill. They also reach three other finals, including an eleven goal thriller against Linlithgow in the Fife & Lothians.

Glenrothes reaches the three Fife Cup finals, but only prevails in the one, in the Stella Artois against Hill of Beath.
